Kontratieff Cycle

SocGen has produced a report with their own take on the Kontratieff Cycle. Good report, click here for post via zerohedege. The link takes you to a summary post, but the entire 28-page report is linked at the end of the link for your reading pleasure.

A little different take (and timeline) from the Long Wave Group’s information that groovygirl has repeated here. But, conclusion is the same….bad winter cycle.

The two big changes impacting global systems from this report: the large number of retired persons in the developed countries and the rise of demand in the emerging market countries.

The Technology Trap

Filed under: Odds 'n ends — totallygroovygirlfriday @ 1:48 am

Groovygirl has been wondering about the technology costs vs. benefit for middle and small size business some time now. This article from Pension Pulse looks at the impact of investment and analysis software. So, are we getting to a point where the costs for upkeep and maintenance for performance technology outweigh the benefit?

How is technology costs affecting other types of business? Cyber-security costs are definitely up. Adding unproductive business costs in a down economy will just put more companies out of business. When companies consistently have more expenses than profit, they just stop producing. This eventually leads to higher prices and/or shortages.
