Hoagy Carmichael

This is from the 1937 movie Topper with Cary Grant, Constance Bennett, Roland Young, and Billie Burke. This is a cameo by the great piano composer Hoagy Carmichael, nicknamed “Stardust”. I read some great stories about Hoagy Carmichael.

Apparently, it was a custom for Hollywood stars to hang out at Hoagy’s (and his wife’s) home in Hollywood Hills to sit around the piano and sing until the wee hours of the morning. (Just like this clip portrays toward the end) Yes, this what even movie stars did before TV and the internet.
